Automation is not the same as reconciliation transformation.d!
A team can reduce processing time from 90 minutes to 10 minutes—and still carry much of the same operational risk.
That happens when:
• Recurring breaks are repeatedly cleared rather than eliminated
• Exception ownership remains unclear
• Manual investigation is simply moved to another screen
• Match rules generate too many false positives or recalls
• The audit trail cannot explain how decisions were made
A mature reconciliation function should measure more than processing speed.
It should track:
• Straight-through match rates
• Aged and recurring exceptions
• Root-cause elimination
• False matches and match recalls
• Time to investigate, not only time to process
• Control effectiveness and data quality
Faster processing is useful.
Fewer preventable breaks, clearer accountability and stronger controls—that is transformation.
